Agri-linked CSR often prioritises farmer livelihoods and water table concerns; NGOs should also research diaspora and NRI-linked giving channels active in the state.
Why state totals mislead NGOs
Aggregate CSR by state hides concentration: a few large companies and a handful of districts often absorb most disclosed spend. Two NGOs in the same state can face completely different funder pools depending on sector and district.
What to research instead
- Companies with plants, offices, or CSR history in your districts
- Sectors they funded in the last three fiscal years
- Typical grant size band for your theme
- Whether they fund directly, via foundation, or through implementing agencies
